Bangladesh freedom fighter (mukti yodha) Premtosh Dutta Choudhury

Kolkata: “We ran to save our mothers, sister and to protect our father’s honour’, said Premtosh Dutta Choudhury, at his Kolkata residence on Friday.

The 79- year-old freedom fighter was a member of Mukti Bahini- the militia dedicated to liberate East Pakistan from West. Dutta was driven out from Bangladesh and has hoped return to his motherland ever since.

But Mr. Trump is the first one who has been convicted in a Senate trial. His vote of impeachment has already gone through. The house of representatives voted by 232 to 197 on Jan 13 to impeach Mr. Trump for inciting the Capitol riots.

America’s temple of democracy attacked

In an attempt to overturn the electoral college results that announced the victory of Joe Biden supporters of president Donald Trump attacked the US Capitol on January six. During a joint session of the Congress to ratify Biden’s win, protesters occupied America’s temple of democracy by smashing windows and triggering chaos.  They gathered outside the Capitol and forced themselves inside the building by scaling up walls and shoving police baricades.

Sriwijaya Air flight 182 missing after take off from Jakarta

Indonesia’s Sriwijaya Air flight 182 has been missing after taking off from Jakarta. The aircraft is a 27- year-old Boeing 737-500 as per registration details included in the tracking data. It was en route from Jakarta to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province in Indonesia’s Borneo island. The plane carried 62 people-56 were passengers and 6 crew members.

Kochi-Mangaluru gas pipeline project sets landmark in “One Nation One Gas Grid”

Through the inauguration of the 450 kilometers Kochi-Mangaluru gas pipeline, Prime Minister Narendra modi took a step forward towards his “One Nation One Gas Grid” project. Governors and Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Kerala, along with union minister for petroleum and natural gas were present during the ceremony. The total cost of the project is valued at Rs. 3,000 crores.

Farmers started protesting against the contentious farm bill

Since September, the last rites of 41 farmers have been performed. Some died of severe cold, while others of heart attack. But their courage to protest against the newly found farm laws have not hindered. Pritam Singh aged 65 committed suicide  on September18. He consumed sulphate tablets while protesting outside the house of Prakash Singh Badal-former chief minister of Punjab.  He was taken to hospital but succumbed to internal injuries. He was soon followed by another young farmer of 22, who poisoned himself after returning from Singhu border.

United State’s vice president Mike Pence received the corona virus vaccine developed by Pfizer on December 18. He took the vaccine publicly to promote the safety and assurance of the vaccine and to build confidence among the masses.

His wife also took the part in the event that was held at the White House. At the time of receiving he said “this week will be the beginning of the end of the coronavirus." US surgeon General Jerome Adams joined them and received the vaccine. With this hoping message Americans can shove their credence against the virus before Christmas.

Sharing newspaper PDF is an illegal act. Senior apex court lawyer, Pavan Duggal points out that “If a digital edition is being circulated without permission of the owner, it is a violation of the Copyright Act as well as the Information Technology Act Section 43, which clearly states that if any attempt is made to destroy, delete or alter any information residing in a computer resources, or diminish its value or utility, it is illegal. This person responsible will be liable to pay damages by way of compensation to the person so affected.”
