Through the inauguration of the 450 kilometers Kochi-Mangaluru gas pipeline, Prime Minister Narendra modi took a step forward towards his “One Nation One Gas Grid” project. Governors and Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Kerala, along with union minister for petroleum and natural gas were present during the ceremony. The total cost of the project is valued at Rs. 3,000 crores.
PM Modi said that it is a very important day for both Karnataka and Kerala. The project will accelerate the economic growth the states. As with economic growth the living standard of people will automatically improve.
On the other hand, states can also reduce its expense on poor, middle class and entrepreneurs. Besides this, the pipeline facility would create gas distribution system in many cities as a result compressed natural gas (CNG) based transport will help to reduce environment pollution and foster a clean environment which makes a healthy living standard among citizen. Tourism industry might take advantage as it could attract tourists into a pollution free space.
He added: this project has generated 1.2 million employment and self- employment after its commissioning which would help fertilizer, petrochemical and power sector. It also denotes for saving foreign exchange money . He mentioned that his government is under way to work on over 16 thousands kilometers of gas pipeline across the country which will be completed in the next 5-6 years. Like raising of CNG fuel stations, PNG and LPG connections have also been delivered on a larger scale thus reducing kerosin depletion.
He quoted, "Dedication of the Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline of GAIL is part of our journey to move towards One Nation One Gas Grid. Clean energy is important for a better future. This pipeline will help improve clean energy access" .

He showed his concern about fishermen communities and has taken many steps to develop the coastal ecosystem and providing loans and Kisan Credit Cards. He recently launched The 20,000 crore Matasya Samapada Yojna for fishermen in Kerala and Karnataka.
The Prime Minister said that the government is committed to provide every citizen affordable, pollution-free fuel and electricity citing the example of world’s biggest renewable energy plant in Gujarat.
